| Abrar Ahmed accepts seven on debut as Pakistan fight back against Britain |
MULTAN: Secret spinner Abrar Ahmed joined a world class gathering of only three bowlers to take a five-wicket pull in the absolute first meeting of their Test profession.
The 24-year-old claimed his maiden five-wicket haul on his Test debut and restricted England to 180/5 before Lunch on the opening day of the second Test in Multan.
He then went on to hunt two more wickets in the afternoon session and finished with astounding figures of 7-114 in his maiden Test innings.
With a majestic display of spin bowling in Multan, Abrar became the third bowler after Australia’s Fred Spofforth and West Indies’ Alf Valentine to grab five wickets before Lunch on the opening day of their Test debut.
He is the only bowler to do so in the present century since Valentine achieved the feat in 1950 while Spofforth had this honour in 1879.
Moreover, Abrar also becomes the third Pakistani bowler after Mohammad Nazir and Mohammad Nazir to take seven scalps in the debut Test.
Toward the finish of a very fast first day of the season in Multan there was still just a single story around, Abrar Ahmed, a 24-year-old secret spinner with the demeanor of a lesser bookkeeper, reporting his landing in Test level with a striking arrangement of numbers on debut.
